The newly appointed Lagos State Commissioner of Police (CP), Olohundare Jimoh, has assured that operatives will continue to secure the Lagos State House of Assembly as they have always done.

Jimoh made this known on Tuesday while responding to questions regarding the security situation at the Assembly complex.

When asked about concerns that the police’s role as the lead agency for internal security had been taken over by another agency, Jimoh dismissed the claim.

‘No, it is not true that the police were not on-site to perform our duties. Our men have always provided security there but have remained outside, where the law permits us to stay’, he said.

He further clarified that the police had no role inside the legislative chamber.

‘We do not have any business in the Hallowed Chamber, and that is why our men were not there’, Jimoh stated.

On Monday, the Police Service Commission (PSC) appointed Jimoh as the new Commissioner of Police for the Lagos State Command.

Jimoh previously served as the Force Public Relations Officer from January 2017 to January 2019.

He later held various positions, including Deputy Commissioner of the Airport Police, Deputy Commissioner of Finance and Administration, Deputy Commissioner of General Investigation, and Commissioner of Police for the Ports Authority, Eastern Ports.
