The Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Biodun Oyebanji has recalled Taiwo Olatunbosun to the State Executive Council as Commissioner for Information, barely a week after dissolving the cabinet.
The move was confirmed in a recall letter signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Habibat Adubiaro, and dated 18 August 2025.
The letter stated that Olatunbosun, a former Deputy Speaker of the state House of Assembly, ‘is to continue to function as Commissioner for Information’, with the recall taking effect immediately.
In a statement on Monday, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr. Olayinka Oyebode said: ‘Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Biodun Oyebanji has recalled former Commissioner for Information, Rt. Hon. Taiwo Olatunbosun, back to the State Executive Council. The recall is with immediate effect.
‘The development came barely a week after the governor announced the dissolution of the state executive council’.
The reinstatement comes in the wake of a major cabinet shake-up in which Oyebanji dissolved the State Executive Council on 11 August, directing commissioners and special advisers to hand over to permanent secretaries or the most senior civil servants in their ministries, departments and agencies.
At the time of the dissolution, six commissioners, including Finance, Works and Human Capital Development, were retained to ensure continuity in critical sectors of government.
The governor had explained during the dissolution that the decision was aimed at injecting fresh energy into governance, while also reaffirming his commitment to his ‘shared prosperity’ agenda.
