Poet, author, Nengi Ilagha to celebrate 62nd birthday with book unveiling

Activities marking the 62nd birthday anniversary of a veteran Bayelsa State journalist, broadcaster and author, Mingi-Yai Nengi Josef Owei-Ilagha (well known as Pope Pen), will commence on Thursday with an interaction between the former Speech Writer and Special Adviser to the Governor, and media executives in the state.

The award-winning poet will also pay a courtesy call on the Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Comrade Tonye Yemoleigha, and the Chairman of the state chapter of the Association of Nigerian Authors, Mr. Ebi Robert.

The birthday proper will come to a climax on Thursday with the formal unveiling of two new books written by Pope Pen this year, entitled The First Captain of Creek Haven, and Son of The Tiger Killer, the story of the Diepreye Alamieyeseigha government.

A statement signed by the former General Manager of the Bayelsa State Newspaper Corporation indicated that the event will also feature goodwill messages, and a formal review of the books by another veteran journalist, Mr. Braeyi Ekiye.

Chairman of the occasion is expected to be the immediate past Vice Chancellor of the Nigeria Maritime University, Delta State,Prof. Emmanuel Adigio.

Highlight of the occasion will be a dancing competition between the author and his twin sister.
