Jaiyesimi’s ITAN to crown Detty December vibes in Lagos

A super exciting Christmas and Boxing Day treat awaits theatre lovers in Lagos as Ayo Jaiyesimi’s classical play, ITAN the Story will be on stage at the MUSON Centre, Onikan.

For residents and tourists alike, the theatre experience will crown the Detty December vibes, with the play unleashing the artistic wisdom of the old and vibrant energy of young actors to convey a generational message.

Playing a major role, irresistible comedian Afeez Oyetoro will be in serious business as he trades wit with other impressive talents like Nissi George, Hepizibah Idakwo, Victor Oyebode (better known as Boy Alinco), Oluwakemi Aderibigbe, Femi Oyegbile, Lilian Aliu and Boye Oshuntuyi.

Interestingly, Jaiyesimi’s Thespian Family Theatre is also marking the 10th anniversary of ITAN. It has thus been specially packaged to rain more than entertainment on the stage.

Jaiyesimi says: ‘In the production of ITAN, we’re shining a spotlight on the pressing issue of multi-generational tensions that affect families, communities, and workplaces. We recognise that diversity is a strength, but it requires understanding, empathy, and effective management to unlock its full potential. By exploring the complexities of inter-generational relationships, we aim to spark meaningful conversations and foster greater understanding between young and old.

She notes that ITAN enjoys the support of First Bank of Nigeria, First Pension Custodians, The Leadway Group, The Go Forté Foundation, The Sauvites and The Bunker.

The production is in partnership with the Lagos State Ministry of Tourism, ArArtand Culture.

According to the organisers, all tickets purchased before the show was rescheduled due to the Eyo Festival remain valid.

Thespian Family Theatre is a member of International Theatre Institute (Nigeria), the Dance Guild of Nigeria andthe International Association of Theatre and Performing Arts for Children and Young People.
