Nigeria’s Vice President between 1999 and 2007, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, has won the presidential ticket of another faction of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
Last Sunday, another faction of the ADC elected by consensus its 2023 presidential candidate, Mr. Dumebi Kachickwu, to fly its flag again in 2027.
The faction, led by a former Senate President David Mark, announced on Wednesday that Atiku polled 1,846,370 votes to beat his closest rival, a former Minister of Transportation, Rt. Hon. Rotimi Amaechi, who polled 504,117 votes.
Former Managing Director of the defunct FSB International Bank, Mohammed Hayatu-Deen, got 177,120 votes.
Although the Independent National Electoral Commission has recognised the Mark-led ADC, the parties are still in court over the leadership of the party.
