Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, has said he was also a victim of the activities of the alleged fake Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC).

Kalu made the disclosure during plenary at the House of Representatives on Wednesday, explaining how he and his office were allegedly deceived by the organisation.

According to the Deputy Speaker, his photographs were widely circulated alongside those of the self-acclaimed Director-General of the PFIPC, Adeniyi Adeyemi, following his interaction with the group.

“I was a victim, and I’m sure if you watch the news, you would see my picture all over the screen side by side with the purported DG of this organisation,” Kalu said.

He disclosed that in May 2025, his office received a letter bearing the Presidency’s letterhead and the inscription, “Office of the Director General, PFIPC”.

“When I saw this, I looked down the letterhead and saw Federal Secretariat Complex, Phase Three, Second Floor, Central Business District. It was a bit confusing for me. Some of the information looked credible, some did not,” he said.

Kalu explained that he subsequently directed members of his team to verify the existence of the organisation at the address provided.

According to him, his aides returned and confirmed that the organisation was operating from the stated location, prompting him to approve a meeting with its representatives.

“I now sent my team to go and verify the existence of this organisation in the said address. My team came back confirming that this organisation was in the said location. I then gave approval for them to come and have the interaction with me,” he added.

The Deputy Speaker’s remarks come amid growing scrutiny surrounding the activities of the purported Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council and questions over its legitimacy.
