Zamfara commences recruitment of 3,050 primary school teachers

The Zamfara State Government has opened an online application portal for the recruitment of 3,050 additional teachers for public basic schools across the state.

The recruitment exercise was announced in a public notice issued at the weekend by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, Maryam Yahaya Shantali.

According to the notice, the application portal opened on 2 July 2026 and will close on 16 July 2026. Applications submitted after the deadline will not be considered.

To be eligible, applicants must be indigenes of Zamfara State, aged between 18 and 35 years, and possess the minimum teaching qualifications required for the position. Accepted qualifications include the Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE), Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.), Bachelor of Science in Education (B.Sc. Ed.), Bachelor of Arts in Education (B.A. Ed.), or a B.Sc. or B.A. with a Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE), where applicable.

Applicants must also possess a Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) certificate or proof of registration, as well as a National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) discharge or exemption certificate. They must also be willing to accept deployment to any part of the state, including rural communities.

Required documents include academic certificates, a certificate of indigene, a birth certificate or declaration of age, a valid means of identification, a recent passport photograph and other specified documents.

The ministry said priority would be given to qualified teachers in critical subject areas, including English Language, Mathematics, Basic Science and Technology, Agricultural Science, Computer Science and Digital Literacy, Social Studies and Citizenship Studies, and Physical and Health Education.

Other priority subjects include Nigerian History, Culture and Creative Arts, Home Economics, Arabic Language, Early Childhood Care Development Education (ECCDE), Primary Education Studies (PES), Islamic Studies and Hausa Language.

Applicants are also required to pay a non-refundable application fee of N1,000 through the Pay Zamfara platform integrated into the online recruitment portal.

According to the notice, only candidates who meet the approved eligibility requirements and successfully pass the automated online screening process will be shortlisted for the Computer-Based Test (CBT).

The ministry warned that multiple applications, submission of false information or forged documents, failure to meet the minimum qualification requirements, incomplete documentation, or refusal to accept posting to rural areas would result in automatic disqualification.
