The Nigerian military has handed over the pupils and teachers rescued from captivity in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State to the state government after they completed a 48-hour period of medical observation and evaluation.
The victims regained their freedom on Friday after spending 56 days in captivity following their abduction from schools in the local government area.
They had been receiving medical treatment, psychological assessment and psychosocial support at the Headquarters of the 2 Division Nigerian Army Medical Services, Odogbo Barracks, Ibadan.
The handover marks the end of the military’s immediate care for the rescued victims and paves the way for their reintegration into their families and communities under the supervision of the Oyo State Government.
Meanwhile, The rescued teachers and pupils from the Oriire abduction have officially departed the Oyo State Governor’s Office for LAUTECH Teaching Hospital, Ogbomoso after being received by the state government.
They are now in the custody of the Oyo State Government, where they will undergo comprehensive care, medical evaluation, psychosocial support, and stabilization following their traumatic ordeal.
