Senate President Godswill Akpabio has made a light-hearted remark about the viral video allegedly showing Senator Adams Oshiomhole massaging a woman’s leg aboard a private jet, saying the Senate initially dismissed the footage because it was believed to have been generated using artificial intelligence (AI).

A video that surfaced on X on 3 February 2026 attracted widespread attention after it purportedly showed Oshiomhole, a former Edo State governor and senator representing Edo North, in the act inside a private jet. The senator later denied the authenticity of the footage, describing it as AI-generated.

Speaking during Thursday’s plenary session, Akpabio referred to the controversy while making a humorous comment during proceedings.

He said the Senate had initially ignored the matter because of doubts over the authenticity of the video, adding that a petition on the issue could be examined if further evidence was presented.

“I would have asked a question when there was a picture showing one of our senators on a plane massaging the leg of a girl,” Akpabio said.

“Senator Oshiomhole and that your very good friend came to give me security information that we just ignored the massage because we thought it was AI. But if you have another evidence, we have a petition before us; we can look if it’s not AI.”

The Senate President’s comments came as the issue continued to generate public discussion following Oshiomhole’s denial of the video’s authenticity.
