Old students of Ajuwa Grammar School, Okeagbe Akoko, Ondo State, who graduated in 1976, have marked their 50th anniversary by donating educational materials to their alma mater.

The donation was made during an anniversary programme held at the school hall over the weekend.

At the event, the Chairman of the 1976 set, Mr David Amubieya, supported by the National Coordinator, Mr Dele Ogundana, presented 24 marker boards and four packs of pens to the school Principal, Mr Michael Agboola.

The materials are expected to be installed and used across the school’s 18 classrooms.

Speaking during the presentation, Amubieya told the school management and students who witnessed the event that members of the 1976 set had resolved to continue supporting their alma mater as part of their commitment to its growth and development.

He said the old students remained grateful for the quality of education they received at the school under the mentorship of the then Principal, Chief Guy Gargiulo, whom they credited with helping to shape them into worthy ambassadors of the institution.

Amubieya urged the students to make good use of the facilities and take their education seriously as they pursue their academic careers.

The school Principal, Agboola, commended the old students for their commitment to giving back to the institution.

He recalled that the same set had, in 2023, constructed and installed two metal doors at the Principal’s office to improve the security of staff and protect important school property, including classified documents.

Agboola assured the visiting alumni that the newly donated materials would be properly managed and utilised for the purpose for which they were provided.

Earlier, the Chairman of the 50th Golden Anniversary Planning Committee, Prof Sunday Oni, welcomed members of the 1976 set and encouraged them to sustain their contributions to the development of the school.

According to him, the members made the donation despite prevailing economic challenges as part of their efforts to give back to their alma mater while commemorating five decades since their graduation.

The anniversary programme also featured the presentation of gift items to the school Principal and the four Vice Principals.

The 50th anniversary celebration underscored the enduring bond between the 1976 graduating set and Ajuwa Grammar School, as the former students continued to support the institution that played a significant role in their formative years.
