The South-South Coordinator of the APC Renewed Hope Ambassadors (RHA), Senator Ife the key reforms introduced by President Bola Tinubu’s administration to revitalise Nigeria’s economy, adding that the President assumed office at a criticalanyi Okowa, has said about 1.6 million tertiary institution students have benefited from the Federal Government’s National Education Loan Fund (NELFund).
Okowa made the remarks on Sunday in Asaba while receiving the national leadership of Working People United (WPU), which paid him a courtesy visit.
He described NELFund as one of the key reforms introduced by President Bola Tinubu’s administration to revitalise Nigeria’s economy, adding that the President assumed office at a critical period for the country.
According to Okowa, many students who were initially sceptical about the scheme had since enrolled and were benefiting from it.
He urged Nigerians who remained doubtful about the programme’s credibility to take advantage of the student loan scheme.
“I urge Nigerians to support President Tinubu’s reform programmes, which are beginning to address some of the country’s fundamental socio-economic and political challenges,” he said.
Okowa cited the proposed creation of state police, the deregulation of the electricity generation sub-sector and the removal of fuel subsidy as some of the major reforms introduced by the administration.
He argued that President Tinubu deserved a second term in office to consolidate and complete the reform agenda, expressing confidence that Nigerians would increasingly appreciate the administration’s efforts to reposition the country.
Okowa also called on members of Working People United to mobilise support for the government ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Earlier, the National Coordinator of WPU, Williams Akporeha, said the delegation visited Asaba to brief Okowa on the group’s objectives and inaugurate its Delta State chapter.
Akporeha said the organisation comprised public and private sector workers, self-employed professionals and artisans from across the country.
He pledged the group’s support for Okowa’s senatorial ambition, as well as the re-election bids of Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and President Tinubu.
