The Nigerian Army has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening collaboration with the private sector to improve logistics support, enhance fleet maintenance and sustain operational readiness in pursuit of the country’s security objectives.
The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt.-Gen. Waidi Shaibu, made the commitment on Tuesday while receiving the management of an automobile company during a courtesy visit to the Army Headquarters in Abuja.
Represented by the Chief of Policy and Plans (Army), Maj.-Gen. Bamidele Alabi, the COAS said maintaining a dependable and mission-ready vehicle fleet remains essential to the Army’s operational effectiveness, enabling the rapid deployment of personnel and equipment in response to security challenges across the country.
He noted that collaboration between the military and private organisations plays a crucial role in strengthening defence capabilities, particularly in fleet management, equipment maintenance, technical support and personnel development.
According to Shaibu, such partnerships align with the Nigerian Army’s transformation agenda, which is focused on building a more agile, technologically advanced and self-reliant force.
The Army chief commended the company for its continued support through the supply of vehicles, maintenance services, technical collaboration and industrial training for personnel in military workshop units.
He said the firm’s contributions had complemented ongoing efforts to improve the Army’s logistics system and enhance operational efficiency in protecting Nigeria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Shaibu also assured the delegation of the Army’s commitment to maintaining a secure environment that supports economic growth, attracts investment and strengthens the link between national security and sustainable development.
He added that closer cooperation among the military, government institutions and the private sector remains essential to building resilient defence capabilities, sustaining operational effectiveness and promoting lasting peace and national prosperity.
Earlier, the company’s Branch Manager, Mr Adeniji Adeyinka, conveyed the goodwill of the firm’s founder, Chief Michael Ade-Ojo, and its management.
Adeyinka commended the Chief of Army Staff for his leadership and praised the Nigerian Army’s efforts to address the country’s security challenges. He reaffirmed the company’s commitment to deepening its partnership with the Army through expanded technical support, improved fleet maintenance services, industrial attachment opportunities and the provision of automotive solutions tailored to the military’s operational requirements.
