Nigeria’s Super Falcons have received a $60,000 goal bonus following their commanding 6-2 victory over Egypt’s Cleopatras on Wednesday.
The players had initially been promised a $5,000 reward for every goal scored by the National Sports Commission (NSC) ahead of their opening match against Malawi at the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.
However, Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) President Shehu Gusau announced after the win over Egypt that the NSC had doubled the incentive to $10,000 per goal, raising the team’s total bonus for the six-goal performance to $60,000.
Gusau made the announcement while addressing the squad after the match, describing the enhanced reward as part of efforts to motivate the players for the knockout stage of the tournament.
The Super Falcons will face Cameroon’s Indomitable Lionesses in the quarter-finals in Casablanca on Sunday, with a place in the semi-finals at stake.
Victory over Cameroon would also secure Nigeria’s qualification for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil.
