Nigerian media entrepreneur Mo Abudu has announced plans to open EbonyLife Place London, which she says will be the UK’s first cinema hub dedicated exclusively to African and Black films.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Abudu made the announcement on Monday in a social media post, accompanied by a video showing the new property.
According to the media mogul, EbonyLife Place London, located on Wandsworth Road, is scheduled to officially open in October.
She described the venue as a cultural and creative hub dedicated to showcasing African cinematic culture and creating a platform for African and Black stories in the United Kingdom.
“EbonyLife Place London will become the first cinema in the United Kingdom dedicated exclusively to African and Black films, while also creating a vibrant cultural hub celebrating our fashion, music, food and art,” she said.
Abudu said the venue would offer visitors more than film screenings, with a range of spaces designed to provide a broader cultural and entertainment experience.
She listed the facilities as the Grand Reception, Afrobeat Restaurant, Fèhintì Lounge, Maji Concession & Bar, Zuri Retail and The Living Wall Gallery.
The London project represents an expansion of the EbonyLife Place brand beyond Nigeria, positioning the new venue as a destination for African and Black storytelling, culture and entertainment.
The initiative is expected to provide a dedicated platform for African cinema while showcasing aspects of the continent’s fashion, music, cuisine and visual arts to audiences in the UK.
