Olaniyi Oluwakemi Abisola, popularly known as Abisola, has emerged as the winner of the BIGI Music Competition at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, during the 15th stop of the Soundcity OnTour.
Abisola impressed both the audience and judges with her performance during the BIGI Music auditions held between August 18 and 20, clinching the top prize in a competitive showcase of emerging student artistes.
Moses Yakubu Ibrahim, popularly known as Bhig Moe, finished as the first runner-up, while Ibrahim Yakubu Binkalim, known as Ibrahim Binkaly, emerged as the second runner-up.
The three winners shared a total cash prize of ₦1 million. Abisola received ₦500,000, while Bhig Moe and Ibrahim Binkaly went home with ₦350,000 and ₦150,000 respectively.
Beyond the cash prizes, the competition provided aspiring student artistes with an opportunity to perform before a live audience and gain greater visibility within the Nigerian music industry.
The ABU Zaria activation formed the 15th stop of the 20-campus Soundcity OnTour, sponsored by BIGI and Fearless Energy Drink. The tour, which runs from June to October 2026, combines music, entertainment, campus culture and talent discovery across Nigerian universities.
The three-day event followed the established Soundcity OnTour format, featuring campus engagement activities on the first day, BIGI Music auditions on the second day and a major concert on the final day.
Through the BIGI Music platform, standout artistes from various university stops will progress to regional battles, with the strongest performers advancing to the national stage.
The eventual two national winners will receive studio production, A&R mentorship led by Bankulli, radio exposure through Soundcity and professionally produced music videos to support the development of their careers.
The Zaria stop also featured performances from Falz, Magnito, Firstklaz, Hypeman Best and DJ Dewik, giving members of the ABU community an evening of music and entertainment.
With 15 campuses already covered, Soundcity OnTour is expected to continue its nationwide journey, with the Federal University of Agriculture, Ogun State, scheduled as the next stop from September 29 to October 1, 2026.
For Abisola, Bhig Moe and Ibrahim Binkaly, their success at the ABU Zaria auditions could mark the beginning of a bigger journey as the BIGI Music platform continues to give emerging artistes opportunities to move from campus stages to the wider Nigerian music scene.
