The Public Relations Consultants Association of Nigeria (PRCAN) has congratulated its former Vice President, Mr Muyiwa Akintunde, on his election as the National President of the Nigerian Institute of Journalism Alumni Association (NIJAA).
Akintunde, the Chief Executive Officer of Leap Communications and publisher of online newspaper, Breezy News, emerged victorious in the NIJAA election held over the weekend.
Other members elected into the association’s National Executive Council include Isabella Adesola as Vice President, Dimeji Kayode-Adedeji as General Secretary, Chika Nnamani as Assistant Secretary, Mark Akhuetie as National Publicity Secretary, Oluwapelumi Oluwayomi as National Organising Secretary, and Adegbemi Adewale as National Legal Adviser.
In a solidarity message signed by its Chairperson and Chief Executive Officer, Dr Nkechi Ali-Balogun, PRCAN described Akintunde’s emergence as a reflection of the confidence his colleagues have in his leadership, experience and commitment to journalism and the alumni community.
The association noted that his election was also a source of pride to PRCAN and the wider public relations and communications industry.
PRCAN expressed confidence that Akintunde’s professional experience, achievements and leadership qualities would bring renewed energy and purposeful direction to NIJAA.
The association also wished Akintunde and the newly elected National Executive Council a successful tenure marked by meaningful impact and lasting achievements.
PRCAN further said it looked forward to the positive contributions Akintunde’s leadership would make towards advancing the interests and aspirations of members of the Nigerian Institute of Journalism Alumni Association.
Akintunde has had a long history of service within PRCAN, having previously served as Assistant Secretary and Secretary. He also chaired the association’s Education, Membership and Election committees at different periods.
