The Federal Government has announced that another 65 Nigerian nationals are expected to return from South Africa on Wednesday, August 26, 2026.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs disclosed this in a statement posted on its X handle on Tuesday, saying the returnees were being sponsored by private individuals.
According to the ministry, the Nigerians will depart Oliver Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg at 3:30pm local time aboard a South African Airways flight.
“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs wishes to inform that another set of 65 Nigerian nationals sponsored by private individuals will depart the Oliver Tambo International Airport, Johannesburg, South Africa on Wednesday 26 August 2026 at 3.30pm local time via South African Airways,” the statement read.
The ministry added that the returnees are expected to arrive at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos at about 8:45pm on the same day.
The latest repatriation comes amid concerns over recent reports of anti-foreigner attacks and discrimination against foreign nationals in South Africa.
It also follows the return of 83 Nigerians from South Africa last week, with that group similarly sponsored through the intervention of public-spirited private individuals.
