The Senate has confirmed the nomination of Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa for reappointment as the Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM) for a second term.
In a communication dated 2nd May, President Muhammadu Buhari wrote to the Senate to confirm Dabiri’s nomination for reappointment.
Dabiri-Erewa, a former Senior Special Assistant to the President on Foreign Affairs and Diaspora, was appointed NIDCOM chairman in November 2018.
A former high profile broadcaster, Dabiri-Erewa was first elected into House of Representatives in 20023 to represent Ikorodu Federal constituency of Lagos State, and was re-elected in 2007 and 2015.
She served as chairperson the House Committee on Media and Publicity, and also that of the Committee on Diaspora Affairs.
During plenary on Tuesday, the Senators paved the way for Dabiri-Erewa’s second term in office.
The Senatealso confirmed the appointment of Bernard Okumagba, Patrick Aisowieren and Kurien Uchegbu as members of the governing board of the Niger Delta Development Commission.
