The House of Representatives committee investigating allegations of job racketeering in the Federal Character Commission (FCC) has ordered the arrest of Haruna Kolo, the man at the centre of the probe.
Committe Chairman, Yusuf Gagdi ordered the warrant of Kolo’s arrest on Thursday as he failed to appear again at the hearing.
He had testified before the committee and admitted to collecting money from job applicants on behalf of the commission Chairman, Hajia Muheeba Dankaka.
During the hearing on Monday, Kolo said he collected millions from different applicants and remitted them to Dankaka.
However, he has refused to appear before the committee again since Monday.
On Kolo’s non-appearance, the committee Chairman directed the clerk to commence the process of an arrest warrant.
He said that relevant security agencies should arrest Kolo and bring him before the committee on Monday.
“For Haruna Kolo, the position of this committee is that he would lose his freedom. We will issue a warrant of arrest in respect of Haruna Kolo and compel security agencies to present him before this committee at any given period if he is so arrested”, he said.
The committee subsequently adjourned the probe till Monday.
