The Ondo State Government has commended teachers, especially those in public primary schools across the state for being in at duty doing their jobs despite the indefinite strike called to commence on Tuesday by the two labour bodies – the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) – to press home their demands.

After receiving reports from across the state, the Executive Chairman state Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) Rt. Hon. Victor Olabimtan was full of praises for the teachers for displaying dedication to duty and loyalty to the state government, adding that their action would not go unnoticed.

He enjoined the teachers to continue to do their jobs to the best of their abilities as the government would always prioritise their welfare.

On the premium placed on education by the state administration, Olabimtan said more than 1,000 in public primary school in the state are being trained in the modern School Based Management to enhance an effective delivery and performance.

According to him, the training would enhance teachers and learners relationship and overall performance of pupils in both internal and external examinations.

The state SUBEB chairman said that, apart from prompt payment of salaries and allowances, the government would continue to look for creative ways to encourage teachers in order to improve their job delivery and pupils performance for the overall development of the state.

He called on parents to allow their wards to go to school and learn.
