The Professional Model Managers Association of Nigeria (PROMMAN) has expressed deep appreciation to the Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria (ARCON) for banning the use of foreign models in commercials.

The authorised professional modelling body in Nigeria commended the Federal Government for the policy, which is aimed at the development of local talents.

According to PROMMAN President, Mr Frank Osodi, the association had canvassed this policy for several years as several jobs were handed to foreign models to the neglect of local talents who were not only suitable for such jobs, but are also a direct representation of the consumers for which the advertising contents were produced.

He further thanked the ARCON Director General, Dr Olalekan Fadolapo for leading reforms in the industry since he assumed office through his open door policy and for initiating dialogue with the various sectorial heads to understand the plight of the sector.

He also commended Fadolapo for welcoming suggestions from all the relevant sectors which help to promote professionalism and ensure that Nigeria functions at par with contemporaries abroad.

He urged the Federal Government to support more bills that advance the industry and invest in the growth and development of the talents industry which he said will massively open up the markets and promote the talents in Nigeria.
