D’Tigress will know their group opponents for the Paris 2024 Olympics women’s basketball event when the draw for the tournament holds at the Patrick Baumann House of Basketball in Switzerland on Tuesday.
The draw will be overseen by basketball icons Penny Taylor and former NBA superstar Carmelo Anthony.
D’Tigress poised for a consecutive appearance after participating in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics are seeded in pot four alongside Puerto Rico and Germany.
Reigning world champions, the United States, are in pot 1 along with China and Australia. Pot 2 includes Spain, Canada, and Belgium, while pot 3 features France, Japan, and Serbia.
According to FIBA, the women’s Olympic basketball tournament draw principles will be determined by the world ranking along with geographical considerations.
The 12 teams will be divided into four pots based on the FIBA women’s world ranking. Each group will consist of a minimum of one and a maximum of two teams from Europe, while Africa, the Americas, Asia, and Oceania will each have no more than one team per continent in each group.
Nigeria’s senior men’s basketball team, D’Tigers, unfortunately, did not qualify for the competition for the first time since the 2012 London edition.
