The Katsina State Ministry of Internal Security has reported a significant victory in the ongoing battle against banditry in the State with the killing of a notorious bandit leader by the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF).
According to an official statement released on Sunday, a notification bandit leader, Kachalla Maude, met his waterloo in the hands of the Civilian JTF operatives in a daring ambush on Friday night.
The operation, supported by conventional security agents, targeted a terrorist group led by Maude at Garin Rinji, a village situated in the western part of Batsari Local Government Area of the State. An intense firefight ensued during the ambush, resulting in the capture of the notorious gang leader.
The State’s Commissioner for Information and Culture, Bala Zango, highlighted the significance of the operation. He confirmed that Maude and his group had been inflicting terror on the western part of Batsari Local Government Area for an extended period.
Prior to his capture, Maude reportedly confessed to orchestrating numerous attacks on communities along the Batsari/Danmusa axis. These attacks claimed the lives of hundreds of innocent people, leaving a trail of devastation in their wake.
Moreover, Maude’s chilling confession revealed the extent of the gang’s criminal activities. He admitted to extorting over N130 million from the families of kidnap victims, further underscoring the ruthless nature of their operations.
