Nigerian music icon, Oladapo Oyebanjo (popularly known as D’banj), celebrating two decades in the industry, has expressed heartfelt gratitude to fellow artist Olamide, for his contribution to his latest song, Koko.

In a touching Instagram post, D’banj shared a video of himself and friends dancing to the upbeat track while inviting fans to reflect on the significance of the word koko from 2004 to the present.

The song, a part of D’banj’s forthcoming album, holds sentimental value as it was penned by none other than Olamide, the acclaimed YBNL boss.

D’banj showered praise upon Olamide for gifting him with what he termed as “an amazing jam”.

Addressing his fans, D’banj posed the question: “What does the koko mean to you since’04 and right now in 2024″?

This query not only encourages nostalgia for longtime fans but also sparks curiosity among newer audiences about the evolution of the term over the years.

The collaboration between D’banj and Olamide has elicited enthusiastic responses from fans, who flooded the comments section with their thoughts.

D’banj also acknowledged the role his former business partner and producer, Don Jazzy, played in his career.

The ‘Oliver Twist’ hitmaker noted that his musical journey could not be complete without Don Jazzy. He disclosed this while sharing a clip from his courtesy visit to Don Jazzy to hand him the invitation card of his 20 years in music industry anniversary dinner.

Sharing the video via his X handle, D’banj captioned it; “My 20 year journey cannot be complete without It’s @DONJAZZY again! Giving him the invite to my anniversary dinner was a moment filled with nostalgia.

As we both celebrate 20 years in the industry, I’m reminded of the countless memories and milestones we’ve shared together. Here’s to two decades of brotherhood, entertainment, and unwavering support. Love you always, Brother! OooSHeeeee”.

D’banj and Don Jazzy co-founded Mo’Hits Records in 2004. Mo Hits disbanded as a label in 2012, with Don Jazzy citing differences in interests as the reason.
