Fire on Monday gutted a section of the Katsina State Government House in Katsina.
The Chamber is attached to the office where the Governor meets important personalities.
A source whose house is close to the Government House, Alhaji Bashir, told PUNCH Online in Katsina that the fire started around 6 am.
He said, “I saw a fire service truck rushing in. I was in my house as early as 6 am after prayers, a fire service truck rushed into the Government House, and I later learnt there was an inferno inside the red chamber where Governor Dikko used to host guests”.
Efforts to speak with the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Ibrahim Mohammed, proved abortive as he failed to respond to calls put through him.
The cause of the fire and the level of damage are yet to be ascertained as of the time of filing this report.
Efforts are ongoing to put out the fire.
