Lagos councillor boosts constituents’ education, gifts back-to-school items

The Majority Leader of Itire/Ikate Local Council Development Area of Lagos State, Hon. Isiaka Kazeem Alalukimba recently distributed 150 school uniforms, 100 school sandals, 40 school bags, and 500 exercise books to pupils of the Agunbiade ward, which he represents in the council.

The third edition of ‘Welcome Back to School Project’ was held at the Animasahun Nursery and Primary, which Alalukimba attended.

The councillor also gifted 15 uniforms to the officials of Lagos State Waste Management Agency, while police officers got three uniforms. Alalukimba also gave officers of Lagos State Neighbourhood Corps got sports uniforms, and those of Lagos State Traffic Management Agency got four uniforms.

Sports  facilities including table tennis, footballs, basket ball court, football post and trophies were also donated to schools to encourage sports among the youths.

Alalukimba explained that he was a beneficiary of free education in the state, while growing up and he has always priotised education, especially at primary and secondary levels, being the base for any society to progress.

He said: “I was once a student, and not all parents have the capacity to afford the costs of school uniforms, sandals and books for their kids, and the government cannot it alone. My future plan is to do more for the people”.

Alalukimba said he had lobbied for several projects in his ward, including drainage and road construction at Eyiowuwawi, Adewuyi, Adedoyin, Obashola Ajijola and Aguntasolo Streets, among others.

He expressed his appreciation to the people of his ward and leadership, the council chairman and his colleagues for their support and understanding.

Since his inauguration as the councillor, Alalukimba had focused on empowerment programme to constituents. These include ‘Back to School’ scheme,  upgrading of school sports facilities within his ward, class rooms rehabilitation with desks and chairs, and construction.
