Speaker of Taraba State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Joseph Albasu Kunini was at the weekend conferred with awards of excellence by no fewer than five organisations in recognition of his meritorious service and style of leadership at the Blue Chamber in the state.
At its 38th Conference and Annual General Meeting held in Jalingo, the state capital, the Nigerian Association of Technologists in Engineering conferred “Presidential Excellence Award” on Prof. Kunini in “recognition of the invaluable contribution to the Technological Development in Nigeria”.
In the same vein, the the Taraba State chapter of the Yoruba Community Council conferred “Award of Merit” on the Speaker in recognition of his “leadership role that made the Taraba State House of Assembly the most organised and peaceful” in Nigeria, and for his “constant support to Yoruba community in Taraba State”.
Also, a Jalingo-based Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO), Friends Like Siblings, in collaboration with DBN Entertainment World conferred on Kunini the title of “Ambassador of Taraba to the World”, in recognition of his “immense contributions to the good people of Taraba State”.
Another Jalingo-based NGO, Green Nigeria Foundation Project, in collaboration with Coalition of Civil Society Organisations for Peace and Development, conferred on the Speaker the “Executive Green Award” in recognition of his “outstanding legislative performance and contribution to human and community development”.
Kaduna-based media outfits, Arewa Media Publications Event Company (publishers of Northern Achievers International magazine) in collaboration with Baseline Global Ventures (Publishers of Nigerian Focus International magazine) also notified the Speaker of his nomination for award of excellence slated for Wednesday, 23rd November in Kaduna.
Part of the nomination letter signed by the Chairman of Award Committee read: “This award is an affirmation of your incontestable and formidable passion for and a testimony to your leadership credentials and confirmation of your unflinching commitment to the electorate
“It is also worthy to note that your dogged commitment and diligence has given you this outstanding accolades.
“It is fitting that those who advanced a worthy cause and seek to improve the society be recognised and rewarded for the services. It is in recognition of this that the awards are made and also to motivate others”.
