Rotary Club of Ojodu installs Ikpunuekhai 20th president

The Rotary Club of Ojodu at the weekend unveiled its special project, which is estimated to cost N36 million.

At his installation as the club’s 20th President, Rotarian Osi-Evans Ikpunuekhai said that the ambitious project is designed to make a lasting and positive impact on the community, in line with Rotary’s mission to provide clean water, enhance education, and support sustainable healthcare initiatives.

In his acceptance speech as president of the club, Barrister Ikpunuekhai emphasised the theme of ‘Service Above Self’, reaffirming his commitment to leading the club through a year focused on impactful projects and further strengthening its presence in the community and Rotary District 9111. He promised to continue the rich legacy of the club and advance its goals of community development.

The event also marked the inauguration of the club’s 2024-2025 Board of Directors, and the induction of 10 new members into the Rotary Club of Ojodu. This expansion demonstrates the club’s continued dedication to growing its capacity for community service.

One of the most inspiring moments of the event was the special lecture delivered by the Managing Director of Super Saver, Barrister Lucky Onyema Egbede, He spoke on ‘Leadership and Impactful Service’, highlighting the crucial role of leadership in transformative community service.

The award recipients included the Company Secretary/Legal Director of Nigerian Breweries Plc, Barrister Uaboi Agbebaku, who represented the business community’s support for Rotary’s impact.

The event, which was held with grandeur and significance at Ostra Hall, Ikeja, witnessed an exceptional display of Rotary’s rich tradition of service, leadership, and community commitment.

Chaired by the Chairman/Managing Director of Batok Group of Companies, Otunba Kayode Olagunju, it was graced by an impressive array of dignitaries. Key guests included the Chairman of Ojodu Local Council Development Area, Hon. Segun Odunmbaku; the Governor of Rotary International District 9111, Rotarian Wole Kukoyi; and his spouse, Reverend Olusola Kukoyi.

The ceremony was also attended by several other Past District Governors, including Rotarian Ify Ejezie, Rotarian Omotunde Lawson and Rotarian Adewale Ogunbadejo, as well as Governor Elect of RI District 9111, Rotarian Henry Akinyele.

Established in 2002 as a provisional club and officially chartered on 8 March 2005 with 26 members, the Rotary Club of Ojodu has grown exponentially over the years. It has continually embarked on initiatives aimed at uplifting the lives of the less privileged in Ojodu and surrounding areas. Through various projects, the club has made significant strides in improving healthcare, education, and infrastructure for the community.
