The Coalition of Concerned (Military) Veterans (CCV) has commended President Bola Tinubu for hournoring his word on military pensions warfare.

In a press statement by Abiodun Durowaiye-Herberts, the Retired Members of the Nigerian Air Force (REMENAF) said: “Following a successful and non-violent peaceful protest on the 4th and 5th December 2024 by the Coalition of Concerned (Military) Veterans and its affiliated pressure groups.

“We, the leadership, on behalf of the entire military veterans’ community, wishes to most sincerely pay tribute to the following government officials

“We, members of the veterans’ community and families of our fallen heroes cannot thank you enough for appreciating the sacrifices we made to hold this country together in peace and unity.

“We wish to therefore reiterate our resolve to continue to uphold our oath of allegiance even in retirement as veterans and as we await the fulfilment of other welfare promises made by the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, in the coming days and before the 2025 Armed Forces Celebration and Remembrance Day.

“And wait for this! The Yorubas would say, ‘even a bad child also has his day of glory’. Our gratitude also goes to the most insulted denigrated and disrespected veteran leader and politician, Dr. Awwal Abdullahi Aliyu.

“The behind the scene roles he played by constantly interfacing with the HMoD/HMoSD (Minister of Defence and Minister of State for Defence) during the critical period can never be over emphasised.

“Our gratitude to other leadership of various associations and roles played, would feature in our next piece when we will give account of critical roles played by different actors”.

Meanwhile, an official letter of appreciation, duly signed by CCV President, Air Commodre Femi Oguntuyi (rtd.), who also doubles as the Chairman, MoD Ministerial Standing Committee On Military Veterans Welfare, Air Commodre Femi Oguntuyi, Rtd, mni, is already on its way to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and other Government Officials.
