Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, has praised the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun’s successor, Tunji Disu, for approving the deployment of an operational police aircraft to support security operations across the state.
The deployment followed a request by Governor Abiodun, who sought additional resources to reinforce the state’s security architecture and intensify efforts against criminal activities, including banditry. The request was promptly approved by the Inspector-General.
Speaking on behalf of the state government while receiving the aircraft and its crew, the Secretary to the State Government, Tokunbo Talabi, conveyed the Governor’s appreciation to the police chief for his swift response and commitment to protecting lives and property in Ogun State.
Talabi said the aircraft would improve aerial surveillance, intelligence gathering and rapid response capabilities, providing additional support to security agencies in their ongoing operations against criminal elements.
He added that the deployment reflects the strong partnership between the Ogun State Government and security agencies, noting that the collaboration has continued to enhance public safety and the protection of critical infrastructure.
According to him, the aircraft will strengthen Operation Kosaye, the joint security initiative established to combat kidnappers, bandits and other criminal groups operating in forests, border communities and other identified hotspots across the state.
Governor Abiodun reiterated his administration’s commitment to supporting security agencies with the resources required to carry out their duties effectively. He maintained that the state would continue to invest in measures aimed at ensuring lasting peace, public safety and sustainable economic growth.
