Nollywood actor Bolanle Ninalowo has urged individuals to confront generational trauma and break unhealthy patterns inherited from their families.
Ninalowo made the call in an Instagram post in which he reflected on how childhood experiences and upbringing can influence relationships and behaviour in adulthood.
The actor noted that the way people are raised often shapes how they express love, communicate, raise children, establish boundaries and respond to conflict.
However, he stressed that people are not obligated to carry every learned behaviour into the next generation.
Ninalowo encouraged individuals to examine patterns they have come to regard as normal and make deliberate efforts to adopt healthier ways of living and relating with others.
“You can be the person who breaks the cycle. Understand your trauma. Change your life. There is no shame in healing,” he wrote.
He added that while a person’s upbringing could influence their behaviour, it should not dictate the patterns they choose to perpetuate in the future.
