Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke has said his administration is considering adjusting working days for civil servants, to cushion the effect of the fuel subsidy removal.
Adeleke made the disclosure at the stakeholders’ meeting of the Peoples Democratic Party held at the party’s secretariat in Osogbo on Friday.
At the meeting attended by former governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola, the deputy governor, Kola Adewusi, Speaker of the House of Assembly, Adewale Egbedun, Secretary to the State Government, Teslim Igbalaye, national and state assembly lawmakers elected on the platform of the PDP, amongst others, Adeleke also said the government would roll out buses for public transportation.
On his achievements, since he took over power, Adeleke said his administration had so far executed projects in the health and education sectors, as well as public infrastructure renewal.
A statement by the spokesperson for the governor, Olawale Rasheed, quoting Adeleke as saying, “We are implementing programmes and projects in education, health and infrastructure: what the APC could not achieve in four years, we have achieved in under seven months.
“We have positioned the public service, built roads, bridges and channelisation. We have commenced the payment of salary and pension debt. Your (PDP) government has launched the Osun digital economy agenda. Abandoned projects are being completed. Your government is beating old governance records within so short a period.”
On the plans to cushion the effect of the fuel subsidy removal on Osun people, Adeleke said: “We (Osun State Government) will soon introduce public transport buses. We are working on adjusting working hours and days. We want to make life easy and enjoyable for our people.”
Oyinlola applauded Adeleke for his performance as a governor, adding that initiatives of the administration aided the electoral fortunes of the party at the state and national elections.
