Captain William Troost-Ekong converted from the spot in the 55th minute following a penalty won by Africa’s footballer of the year, Victor Osimhen.

The Guineans had smashed another Guinean team – Guinea-Bissau – 4-2 to top the table on goal difference.
Côte d’Ivoire have three points from two matches and will face Equatorial Guinea on Monday in the last group game, while Nigeria take on whipping side Guinea-Bissau, who lost their first two fixtures.
Later tonight, Ghana will seek their first points of the competition when they engage Egypt in Group B.
