Nigeria progressed to the quarterfinals of the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco with an emphatic 4-0 win over Mozambique on Monday.
The result set up the Super Eagles against either Algeria or DR Congo, who play their Round of 16 match tomorrow.
Ademola Lukman was the star who wrecked Mozambique, providing two assists for Victor Osimhen in the 25th minute and Akor Adams (75th) apart from scoring Nigeria’s opening goal in the 20th minute with assist from Adams.
Early in the day, Egypt had beaten Benin Republic 3-1 in extra time to advance to the last eight and face Cote d’Ivoire or Burkina Faso.
The Super Eagles are pushing for the fourth cherry at the title after wins in 1980, 1994 and 2013.
