The just-concluded primary election of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has come under scrutiny following widespread allegations of irregularities, particularly in Alimosho Local Government Area (LGA).

In an interview, one of the chairmanship aspirants in Alimosho LGA, Hon. Dare Ogunkoya voiced his concerns regarding the credibility of the election process. He expressed disbelief at the official result, which showed that he received zero votes despite having documented evidence of delegate support.

‘There is no logical explanation for how a single candidate could secure more than 20 votes when only 25 delegates were accredited to vote’, he complained.

According to Ogunkoya, four aspirants contested for the Executive Chairmanship in the LGA, Hon. Bisi Francis, Hon. Carlo Babatunde Sonupe, Hon. Akinpelu Johnson, and himself. He emphasised that each aspirant had at least one delegate, and he personally documented 13 of his own delegates casting their votes in his favour, with video evidence to support the claim.

Ogunkoya is now questioning how the official result could reflect zero votes for him. While reaffirming his loyalty to the APC and its leadership, he expressed deep disappointment in what he described as blatant electoral malpractice.

He called on all well-meaning residents of Alimosho to peacefully stand up against this injustice and urged the party leadership to thoroughly investigate the allegations surrounding the conduct of the primary.

However, the party has announced the formation of an appeal committee to address grievances arising from the primaries. The committee will be chaired by the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice in Lagos State, Mr. Lawal Pedro. Other members include Otunba Abiodun Olufowobi, Rt. Hon. Jokotola Pelumi (a former Speaker of the state House of Assembly), Hon. Lanre Ogunyemi (APC State Secretary), and Chief Chuckwudi Adiukwu.

All aggrieved aspirants were to have submitted their appeals before Noon today (Tuesday).
