Arsenal on Sunday defeated Manchester City 1-0 during both teams’ English Premier League (EPL) tie.
A late goal by Gabriel Martinelli ensured Mikel Arteta’s side earned maximum points at Emirates Stadium.
After a run of 15 games without a victory in this fixture (D2 L13), losing each of the last 12 in a row, the Gunners rejoiced for over City in the EPL for the first time since December 2015.
Sunday’s victory means Arsenal are now in second place on the EPL table, two points ahead of Pep Guardiola’s side, who are in third place, after eight matches in the season.
Leaders Tottenham Hotspur have the same points and goal difference as their eternal north London rivals, but have scored more goals than Arsenal.
Arsenal’s next EPL tie is against Chelsea on 21st October, after the international break.
