A teacher, Malam Mustapha Maru, who was abducted along the Anka Road in Zamfara State, has reportedly been killed by his captors despite the payment of a N3 million ransom by his family.
The development was disclosed by a journalist, simply identified as Bakatsine, who reports on conflict and insecurity in Nigeria’s North-West, in a post on X on Saturday.
According to Bakatsine, the victim’s family paid the ransom in a bid to secure his release, but he was still killed by the kidnappers.
Maru was abducted in May alongside some of his colleagues while returning to the Federal Government College, Anka, in the state.
At the time of the abduction, Bakatsine had reported that the incident occurred along the Anka Road and urged prayers for the safe release of the victims amid worsening insecurity in the state.
Authorities have yet to officially confirm the reported killing as of the time of filing this report.
