Spanish champions Barcelona have completed the signing of Brazilian striker Gabriel Jesus from Arsenal for a reported fee of £8.6m (€10m).
The 29-year-old has signed a three-year contract with the Catalan club that will keep him at the Camp Nou until June 2029, according to BBC Sport.
Jesus completed his medical on Monday after attracting interest from Italian club Napoli before eventually agreeing a move to Barcelona.
The forward joined Arsenal from Manchester City in 2022 and made 123 appearances for the North London club, scoring 32 goals and providing 22 assists.
However, he gradually fell down manager Mikel Arteta’s pecking order amid competition for places from Kai Havertz and summer signing Viktor Gyokeres.
Barcelona confirmed the transfer in a statement on Tuesday, describing Jesus as a player who had signed on as a Culer for three seasons.
“Arsenal and FC Barcelona have reached an agreement for the transfer of Gabriel Jesus to the blaugranes. The Brazilian striker signs on as a Culer for three seasons,” the club said.
Jesus began his professional career in Brazil with Palmeiras after developing through the youth system at Anhanguera in his hometown of São Paulo.
He made his Palmeiras debut in March 2015 and helped the club win the Brazilian Cup that year before contributing to their league triumph in 2016. He was also named the best player in the Brazilian league that year.
The move makes Jesus one of several new arrivals as Barcelona continue to strengthen their squad depth ahead of the new campaign.
He joins the club alongside other summer additions, including Karim Adeyemi, Jesse Bisiwu, João Cancelo and Dominik Livaković.
The Brazilian forward becomes the latest player to arrive from the Premier League, following reported moves involving Anthony Gordon from Newcastle United and former Ballon d’Or winner Rodri from Manchester City.
Jesus will now begin a new chapter in La Liga as Barcelona look to make the most of his experience in England and at international level.
