Buhari approves more redeployments in aviation agencies

President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the reorganisation of agencies under the Ministry of Aviation. The President approved the appointment of Kabir Mohammed as Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN).

Until his appointment, Mohammed was the Regional General Manager (Central Region Airports) at FAAN and Chairman of the Aviation Roadmap Implementation Committee.

Tayib Odunowo has also been appointed substantive Managing Director of the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA). He takes over from Matthew Pwajok who reverts to his substantive position as Director of Operations.

Meanwhile, Directors-General of the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB), Mr. Akin Olateru; the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet), Prof. Mansur Matazu; and Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), Capt. Musa Nuhu, are to run the remaining course of their tenures in line with the Acts setting up their agencies.

Rector of the Nigerian College of Aviation Technology, Zaria, Captain Alkali Modibbo was granted a one-year extension, also in line with the Act setting up the College.

This was contained in a statement yesterday by the ministry’s Head of Press and Public Affairs, Odutayo Oluseyi.

It reads: “In order to reposition the agencies to perform their statutory duties as enshrined in the Acts, the Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika, has also approved the appointment of some new directors. The appointment is to address the requirements of the Acts for appropriate placements, and Federal Character requirements.

“Shehu Mohammed heads the Human Resources and Admin department of FAAN, Olumuyiwa Femi-Pearse (Commercial and Business Management); Azubuike Okorie (Corporate Services); Kingsley Okunji (General Manager -Statistics) and Jemilu Abdulrahman (Manager, Special Duties).

“Capt. Musa Nuhu remains Director General/CEO of NCAA; Gbolahan Abatan (Director, Airworthiness Standards); Godwin Balang (Director, Aerodrome and Airspace Standards); Capt. Ibrahim Danbazau (Director, Operations); Olaniyi Saraku (Director, Air Transport Regulations); Capt. Chris Najomo (Director, Public Affairs and Consumer Protection); Air Cdr Hambali Tukur (Director, Aviation Security); Mrs R.M Daku (Director, Corporate Services); Mrs Mary Tufano (Company Secretary/Legal Adviser); Mrs Dawa Gyaks (General Manager, Audit) and Aminu Tasi’u (General Manager, Accounts).

“NSIB Director General/CEO is Akin Olateru; Ori Bassey (Director, Finance and Accounts); James Odaudu (Director, Public Affairs and Consumer Protection); Oliobi Ikemefuna (Director, Corporate Services); Capt. Tosin Odulaja (Transport Investigation) and Illitrus Ahmadu (Company Secretary/Legal Adviser).

“NiMet Director General/CEO remains Prof. Mansur Matazu, while others are Saleh Yusuf (Human Resources and Admin); Daniel Chibueze (Director, Weather Forecasting Services); Ahmed Sanusi (Public Affairs and Consumer Protection) and Prof. Effiong Oku (Director, Research and Training).

“NAMA’s new Director General/CEO is Engr. Tayib Odunowo and others are Matthew Pwajok (Director, Operations); Khalid Emele (Director, Public Affairs and Consumer Protection); Uchendu Oji (Corporate Services, General Manager) and Mrs Amaka Walker (Public Affairs).”

The appointments, according to the minister, are with immediate effect.
