The Speaker of the Cross River State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Elvert Ayambem has disbursed N10 million as bursary support to 100 students from Ikom Local Government Area.
The presentation ceremony, which took place on Sunday at his country home in Nde community, attracted students, parents, community leaders and party stakeholders.
The Speaker’s Chief of Staff, Anakan Ndoma, who represented his principal, said that the bursary scheme was a deliberate effort to ease the financial burden on students and their families while encouraging academic excellence.

He urged beneficiaries to remain focused, disciplined, and committed to their studies, stressing that the intervention was an investment in their future and the development of Ikom LGA.

Chairman of the occasion, Asinya Ntan commended the Speaker for his sustained support for human capital development, noting that the initiative reflects responsive and people-oriented leadership.
On behalf of the beneficiaries, the President of the National Association of Ikom Students Worldwide, Atep Godiva described the bursary as timely and impactful, particularly given the rising cost of education.
