The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), and the Customs Licenced Cargo Agents have agreed to increase the cargo tariff by 114.29% to N15 per kilogram from N7 at Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MIIA), Lagos.
In a statement on Monday by its Director of Public Affairs, Henry Agbebire, FAAN said that the cargo charge was agreed upon after a stakeholders meeting on Monday.
According to the agency, the proposed upward reviewed cargo price of N15 per kilogram is lower compared to the N20 earlier proposal.
This means Nigerians and travelers would be required to pay an extra N8 tariff per kilogram of cargo in MMIA.
‘The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has reached an agreement with Customs Licensed Cargo Agents operating at the Murtala Muhammed Airport, Lagos, on the proposed review of cargo port charges.
‘The agreement was achieved at a stakeholders’ meeting held on Monday, 9 February 2026, at the MMIA Terminal 2 Conference Room, chaired by the Director of Cargo Development and Services, Mr. Lekan Thomas.
‘After constructive deliberations, both parties agreed on a revised port charge of N15.00 per kilogram, representing a compromise from the earlier proposed N20.00/kg and an upward review of the existing N7.00/kg’, the statement reads.
