CP vows people-focused policing in Enugu

The Commissioner of Police (CP) for Enugu State, has pledged problem-solving and people-focused policing across the state.

The pledge was made on Friday at a Security Town Hall Meeting held in Nsukka under Nsukka Area Command jurisdiction.

Stakeholders at the meeting included community leaders, youths, women groups, traditional rulers, transport unions, students, security personnel and other citizens.

Giwa said he had been working to entrench professional, accountable policing anchored on respect for citizens’ rights and public trust.

He assured residents under Nsukka Area Command of continued proactive policing to address emerging and evolving security challenges.

The commissioner said police would sustain operational strategies aimed at protecting lives and property across Enugu State.

‘Sustainable security can only be achieved through active partnership between the police and the public’, he said.

He reiterated commitment to regular community engagements and collaborative security efforts for a safer environment for all residents and visitors.

He urged the people to remain law-abiding, vigilant, and supportive of security agencies through timely credible information sharing.

Nsukka LGA Chairman, Jude Asogwa, commended the CP for the town hall initiative and direct engagement with residents.

‘We will continue to partner and work closely with the police and other security agencies for peace and development’, he said.

Dignitaries at the meeting included Uzo-Uwani LGA Chairman Chijioke Ezugwu, Enugu State Traditional Rulers Council Chairman Samuel Asadu, and others.

It would be recalled that a similar Town Hall Meeting was earlier held under Udenu Area Command stakeholders.

Subsequent engagements will hold in Agbani, Oji-River and Enugu Metropolis Area Commands across the state.
