Dangote Refinery has increased the price of its Automotive Gas Oil (AGO), commonly known as diesel, to ₦1,800 per litre, days after reducing the cost of the product.
A market survey showed that the refinery raised its gantry price from ₦1,700 to ₦1,800 per litre, representing an increase of ₦100.
Despite the adjustment, Dangote Refinery’s diesel remains cheaper than supplies from several depot owners, including Pivot, African Terminal and Integrated, which were selling the product at ₦1,905 per litre at the time of reporting.
The refinery’s latest price is ₦105 per litre below the rates quoted by the depot operators.
The increase could also push retail diesel prices above their current range of ₦1,960 to ₦1,980 per litre in Abuja and its surrounding areas, depending on transportation costs and retailers’ margins.
The latest adjustment comes three days after Dangote Refinery reduced its diesel price by ₦80 per litre, from ₦1,780 to ₦1,700.
The fresh increase highlights recent fluctuations in diesel prices, with changes at the refinery and depot levels influencing the cost of the product to businesses, transport operators and other consumers.
