The Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Olakunle Oluomo, who was arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Thursday morning, has been released on bail.
Oluomo was allowed to go home on Friday night and told to return to the anti-graft commission on Monday together with the Clerk and Accountant of the assembly.
Oluomo was arrested around 9 am on Thursday at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, apparently on his way out of the country.
On Saturday, Oluomo told The PUNCH: “I have been given an administrative bail. I will go back to their office on Monday”.
He did not say more than that.
The Speaker, who was picked on allegations bordering on financial crimes, was said to have insisted that the EFCC should charge the assembly to court over the allegation.
The assembly had reportedly filed charges against the anti-graft agency and the former Deputy Speaker, Hon. Oludare Kadiri before the Speaker was arrested.
EFCC is said to have moved against Oluomo after he failed to honour several invitations.
