A mini truck driver in Ado Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital, Adeleke Adeniyi, has said he borrowed N3.5 million to support the re-election campaigns of President Bola Tinubu, Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele and Ekiti State House of Assembly member Steve Fatoba.

Adeniyi disclosed this in a video shared by Ekiti State Television (EKTV) on Facebook, in which he displayed a Wema Bank cheque showing N2 million for Tinubu, N1 million for Bamidele and N500,000 for Fatoba.

Explaining his decision, the driver said he believed Tinubu deserved a second term because of what he described as the achievements of the President’s administration.

“I am supporting Mr President, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for his second-term ambition. I have borrowed money. I want to use this money to support him because he’s doing a very great job,” he said.

Adeniyi also pledged to campaign for Tinubu, adding that he planned to use a song to promote the President’s re-election bid.

“I am fully ready to go out to campaign for him. And I’m going to use this song to back him up. On your mandate, we shall stand,” he added.

Appealing to Nigerians to vote for Tinubu in the next presidential election, Adeniyi expressed optimism that another term would bring further benefits to the country.

“I will appeal to my fellow Nigerians that we should demonstrate love by giving him, by voting him for his second term in office, because we are still going to see much more, more than what we have received,” he said.

The driver also praised Bamidele, saying the senator’s support for projects in Ekiti State had influenced his decision to back his political ambitions.

Describing the lawmaker as a good leader, Adeniyi said his assessment of the projects Bamidele had supported encouraged him to offer his backing.

“Most times, I look at the kind of projects that you always put on; you always supported. It always encouraged me that, no, indeed, this is a good leader,” he said.

Adeniyi operates around the BAO Timber Market along Ilawe Road in Ado Ekiti.

The latest show of support follows a similar move in February, when Adeniyi reportedly borrowed money through the digital lending platform OPay to brand a vehicle in support of the re-election bid of Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji.
