President Bola Tinubu has appointed a former presidential candidate, Mr. Fela Durotoye and four others to serve in the Office of the President under the Media and Publicity Directorate.
According to a statement on Monday by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Chief Ajuri Ngelale, the other appointees are Mr. Fredrick Nwabufo, Mrs. Linda Nwabuwa Akhigbe, Mr. Aliyu Audu and Mr. Francis Adah Abah.
Durotoye, who is a business consultant, leadership expert, and motivational speaker, was presidential candidate of the Alliance for New Nigeria in the 2019 general elections. He has been appointed Senior Special Assistant to the President on National Values and Social Justice.
Nwabufo, former deputy editor of TheCable newspaper, is Senior Special Assistant to the President on Public Engagement; while Akhigbe of Channels Television is Senior Special Assistant to the President on Strategic Communications. Akhigbe will also been seconded to serve as the Communications Adviser to the President of the ECOWAS Commission.
Audu, a chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress, is Special Assistant to the President on Public Affairs; while Abah is to serve as Personal Assistant to the President on Special Duties.
Ngelale said that “the President tasks all new appointees, who are serving in the Media and Publicity directorate, to uphold the highest standards of decorum and decency in their engagements with all members of the public as they advance the President’s determined bid to renew the hope of Nigerians in a restructured economy and unified society that caters sufficiently to the needs of all, regardless of any differences”.
