The Federal Government is set to launch the African Global Festival Nigeria, known as AGLOFEST, in October 2026 as part of efforts to strengthen Nigeria’s cultural diplomacy, attract investment and deepen international engagement.
The Permanent Secretary, General Services Office in the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Dr Ibrahim Kana, disclosed this in a statement issued in Abuja on Friday.
Kana conveyed President Bola Tinubu’s approval of the initiative to the festival’s partners through a formal letter.
According to him, AGLOFEST will provide an international platform for cultural exchange, investment and economic cooperation, bringing together government officials, investors, businesses, cultural institutions, creative industry professionals, entrepreneurs and development partners.
He said the festival would feature three major components: the Black Diaspora Economic Forum, the Black Diaspora Cultural Presentation and the Renewed Global Hope and Peace Concert.
Kana said the economic forum would focus on trade, investment and business partnerships, while the cultural presentation would showcase Africa’s heritage and creative expressions.
He added that the Renewed Global Hope and Peace Concert would use music and entertainment to promote peace, unity and positive global engagement.
The permanent secretary said AGLOFEST was being developed as a public-private partnership between the Federal Government and relevant stakeholders, in collaboration with key ministries, departments and agencies.
These include the Ministries of Art, Culture, Tourism and Creative Economy; Trade, Investment and Industry; and Foreign Affairs.
The initiative is also designed to showcase Nigeria’s cultural heritage, tourism potential, creative industries and investment opportunities to an international audience while strengthening the country’s connections with Africa and people of African descent around the world.
The October launch is expected to form part of the Federal Government’s broader efforts to use cultural diplomacy to promote Nigeria’s international profile, attract economic partnerships and deepen relations with countries and communities across the African diaspora.
