Defending champions Nigeria’s Flying Eagles have secured their place in the semi-finals of the WAFU B U-20 Championship after defeating Togo’s Sparrow Hawks 3-0 in their second Group B match in Yamoussoukro, Côte d’Ivoire.
The Flying Eagles entered the encounter on the back of an impressive 4-2 victory over eternal rivals Ghana in their opening game.
The win over Togo means Nigeria have booked an early place in the last four, maintaining their strong start to the competition.
Togo, who lost their opening match 3-1 to Burkina Faso, now face a difficult task in their bid to remain in contention.
The other Group B fixture pits Ghana’s Black Satellites against Burkina Faso’s Young Stallions.
The two finalists of the WAFU B U-20 Championship will earn qualification for next year’s Africa U-20 Cup of Nations, to be hosted by Ghana.
