The Nigerian Hunters and Forestry Security Service Bill will empower hunters in the fight against kidnapping and boost employment, the Nigerian Hunters and Forest Security Services (NHFSS) said yesterday.
NHFSS Deputy Commander General (DCG) in charge of Technical Services, John Metchie urged President Muhammadu Buhari to assent to the Bill recently passed by the National Assembly.
Metchie, who commended the police for rescuing 58 persons in the FCT Command, urged the president to consider the bill as an urgent matter.
He said: “On behalf of the Commander General of the NHFSS, Dr. Joshua Osatimehin, I commend the police for the rescue of 58 victims of banditry and kidnap. It is imperative that hunters have become integral and inseparable part of Nigeria’s security system, especially in the areas of information and intelligence gathering.
“We appeal to President Buhari to assent to the Nigerian Hunters and Forestry Security Service Bill which has been passed by the chambers of the National Assembly.
