Former National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Bamanga Tukur, will be buried on Sunday, 13 September 2026, his family has announced.
Tukur’s son, Auwal Tukur, who is the Secretary to the Adamawa State Government, disclosed this in a statement issued in Yola on Saturday.
Auwal said his father died in Abuja on Saturday and that his remains would be brought to Yola the same day.
“The late elder statesman will be laid to rest on Sunday, 13th September, 2026, after funeral prayers at the Lamido’s Palace by 10:00 a.m.,” he said.
The former governor of the old Gongola State died three days before his 91st birthday.
The family said Tukur was survived by two wives and 18 children, including Auwal Tukur, the Secretary to the Adamawa State Government.
Tukur served as governor of the old Gongola State and later became National Chairman of the PDP, as well as holding several other prominent positions in Nigeria’s political and public life.
